Mortlake Cemetery is in Kew in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames but managed by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. To be buried in Mortlake and receive residents’ rates, the person who has died or the person buying the plot must be residents of the borough. 

Opened in 1926, Mortlake Cemetery is sometimes referred to as Hammersmith New cemetery and is known for its pretty gothic chapel which seats 60 people, with room for 15 standing.

    Car: There is no designated car park at the cemetery, but you can park on the main driveways.

    Train: The closest station is Mortlake operated by South Western Railway, which is a 15 minute walk away.

    Tube: The nearest London Underground Station is Kew Gardens on the District and Overground Lines which is a 15 minute walk away.

    Bus: The 190 bus stops outside the cemetery

North Sheen Cemetery
Although situated in Kew, North Sheen Cemetery is managed by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and is also known as the Fulham New Cemetery.

Opened in 1909, there’s a small brick chapel built in the gothic style, but it’s currently not in use. For any burials taking place at North Sheen, Mortlake Cemetery can be used.

    Lower Richmond Road
    Richmond
    Surrey TW9 4LL

    By car: The main gates are on the Lower Richmond Road (A316) which joins the South Circular Road (A205). Cars can park on the main driveways.

    By train: The closest train station is Mortlake run buy South Western Railway which is a 10 minute walk away.

    By Tube: The closest Underground Station is Kew Gardens on the District line which is a 10 minute walk away.

    By bus: Take the B190 or the 419 bus to the B bus stop on Mortlake Road.

Mortlake Crematorium
Mortlake Crematorium, borders Kew and Mortlake, and is managed jointly by four London boroughs including Ealing, Hounslow, Richmond upon Thames, and Hammersmith and Fulham.

Opened in 1939, the crematorium has a beautiful chapel which seats 94, with additional seating for 36 in the gallery. There is also a peaceful Garden of Remembrance on the site, as well as a dovecote.

    By car: Key Meadow Path is a turning off the A205 South Circular Road. Parking is available on site.

    By train: The nearest station is Mortlake operated by South Western Railway which is 15 minute walk away.

    By Tube: The nearest station is Kew Gardens on the District and Overground lines which is a 15 minute walk to the crematorium.

    By bus: Take the R70 to the Courtlands Avenue stop or the 190 to the Thames Bank Stop.
